Hampton Falls Tax Rate Set for 2023

The Hampton Falls Board of Selectmen has received the official property tax rate for 2023 for the Town of Hampton Falls from the NH Department of Revenue Administration.  The new tax rate is $12.95 per $1,000 of assessed valuation. The tax rate consists of components which are based on budgets that are approved by the voters at the town meeting and school district meeting and by the County Commissioners to fund the county, school, and town operations as well as the assessed valuation of the town.

The Board of Selectmen, understanding the economic inflation residents are facing, decided to use a significant part of the undesignated fund balance to reduce the rate.   In addition, due to controlled spending and unanticipated revenues the Lincoln Akerman School District and Winnacunnet High School were able to return funds from 2022-2023 appropriations to reduce the increase in their rates. If there had not been a revaluation, the rate would have increased by $0.70 cents from the 2022 rate.

The Tax Collector is preparing the tax bills for mailing this week.  If you do not receive a tax bill or have a question regarding your bill, please contact the Tax Collector, Stephanie Grant at townclerkcollect@hamptonfalls.org. Property taxes can be viewed and paid on-line at www.hamptonfalls.org . The period to request abatements begins with the mailing of the tax bills and will run through March 1, 2024.  Abatements are considered for residents who believe there may be an error with the assessment of their property.  Forms and information regarding abatements are available in the Town Office and on-line at www.hamptonfalls.org.
